How to use Windows Movie Maker
Windows Movie Maker 2 is an XP-only download that gives you the tools to create, edit, and share home movies. Compile and edit a movie from video clips with drag-and-drop functionality. Add special effects, music, and narration with ease. Share your movie over the Web or master it to DVD media. You can also save your movie back to the DV tape in your camera.
Some users of Movie Maker have great success and others experience slow downs or freezes. This mostly depends on the size of the files you try to import. If you are making a very large size movie, Movie Maker may not run very well. However, importing an audio file and adding pictures, which is what this tutorial is aimed at doing, work fine with this program. There are better programs out there on the market, but this free program works well for the casual movie maker. |
Step 1: Open Windows Movie Maker
Click on the Start button -> All Programs -> Windows Movie Maker |
Step 2: Open your audio file
Click "Import audio or music" on the left side panel |
Step 3: Choose audio file
After you select the audio file you want to make a movie of, click "Import" |
Step 4: Add audio file
Click and Drag the audio file to the "Audio/Music" section near the bottom of the screen |
Step 4: Choose a picture
Click on "Import Pictures" and choose the picture you want |
Step 5: Add the picture to the movie
Drag the picture above your audio, click and drag the clip for as long as you want it to show. If you want to change pictures, simply import another picture and follow the same steps. |
Step 6: Saving the project and saving the movie file
To save the project (creating a Movie Maker file that you can go back and edit), click on File -> Save Project As and choose the location you want to save the file.
When you have finished the movie, click on File -> Export Movie Clip |
Step 7: Save the movie location
Chose My Computer and click "Next" |
Step 8: Saving the movie
Enter a file name for your movie and choose a spot to save it and click "Next." Click next again to save the file in the best quality for playback |
